All good at reception to check in and picking up buggies etc. This and adjacent Morgado were busy but we went 'tee to green' uninterrupted for most of the round. The course was in good condition but our only issue was the greens. For our group they were too challenging in terms of undulations and pin placements, plus they just didn't hold approach shots well. Other than that the course had good variety and interest with the course design and layout.

Course was in great condition. Lush and green grass not burnt like last time i played late 2021. Greens were in amazing condition like carpets and quick. Played and had buggies but played with 2 guys in there 70’s and a guy with a prosthetic leg so was hard for them at times as couldnt drive on some holes and had to park the buggy and walk to the other side of fairway or in the rough. This made the rounds longer and backed up groups. Totally understand trying to keep the course in good condition but would be so much easier if there were more access on holes.

Alamos is the tougher of the two courses here we feel. The Algarve had had a lot of rain recently but the course held up well and the greens were nice and slick and true. The reception staff were welcoming and helpful and so were the bar staff. A real test of golf especially in the 4 holes it tipped it down and soaked us.

We always like Alamos it’s a great golf course with lots of different style holes. The greens were a little slow for what we have experienced previously but ran true. We will be back. However we were behind some members who turned up right on their tee time and took a while to tee off. They had no regard for other golfers around and should know better. A lack of Marshall’s did not help. We also noted there wasn’t a buggy bar when we did have one on Morgado two days before. Two of our group paid €50 for a buggy the seats were ripped there wasn’t a sat nav no tees no water. It was a lot of money for mediocre buggy they also could not drive onto a lot of fairways and probably walked further than those carrying as they walked back and forth from the cart path. They should have been informed at reception.

We appreciate the problems caused by lack of water but there were too many times when we had to leave the buggy far from our ball. To get to the ladies tees we often had to step over a rope which quite frankly is dangerous. I have played Alamos since the year it opened and this was quite disappointing . Possibility to hire electric trolleys would be an improvement .

Enjoyable round with some attractive holes. It is a tricky course because although it is not long, it is very narrow with many sloping greens and difficult rough so quite a test for mid to high handicap golfers. On balance I prefer Morgado because it is more forgiving. Greens in good condition but tee boxes very dry and overused.

Alamos is a retort with various shell ruins in the middle of nowhere. The layout of the golf course is actually very interesting. Unfortunately, there have been huge water problems for a long time. This is evidenced by the fact that virtually all the waterways have dried up completely and the fairways have hardly any grass left. Only the greens are kept ''alive'' in a makeshift way. The clubhouse cannot score any plus points here either. As long as the water situation does not change decisively, unfortunately not worth a visit!

We played Alamos golf course in May 23 with the Algarve in a drought situation, and it really showed on this course. The greens and tees were still in pretty good condition though. The layout is reasonably interesting, but the round was quite slow, nearly 5 hours. There was no sign of any marshalling on the course to move things along. We are regular fit golfers, but are glad we took a buggy as there are some long distances from green to tee, and again at the end coming in from 18. Tee times.pt organised everything well again.

The experience was ruined by really slow play by several groups in front. At least 6 groups behind us just gave up and left the course early. The Algarve needs to really work out what it wants to provide it's customers. If they want to take ever increasing amounts of money for ever decreasing value for entertainment then it will lose out to other countries who have sun, far cheaper courses and some regulation as to the standard of people who are trying to play.

Firstly the reception staff and the starter were great. HOWEVER the course was a major disappointment and certainly not good value for money. Whilst I understand there has been a lack of rain for an extended period of time, the fairways were parched and offered no sympathy to even good drives. It was like playing on a motorway with the ball bouncing off at any angle. The greens were full of thatch and very slow. Alamos is a course I have played several times before and enjoyed but this was not one of them. Personally I believe we should have been advised of the conditions and offered a reduced green fee.

The tees could have been in a better shape, especially from red. The environment with its half-built apartment and hotel buildings can be a let-down... seems to be one of the typical victims of the 2008 financial market crisis.

We actually did not play the Morgado course as we were advised that it was extremely busy. Instead they asked us if we would like to play the Alamos course. I had played this course some years ago and was not really impressed with it then but decided to try it again. I'm glad I did as it had improved dramatically. Would recommend the course to anybody.

Love Alamos golf course, but disappointed to find play was very slow. However, the ranger soon realised the group in front of us had lost several holes and very quickly sorted out the problem. Felt that the starter could have mentioned at the beginning that the second toilet block was out of action, as we were relying on it and didn't take advantage of the first toilet block! Would have helped. Course is still as interesting as ever, always enjoyable, but enjoyment reduced by slow play.

Nice golf course in the mountain area. Many buildings which need to be finished, which did not look appealing. Course was ok, fairways were a little bit sloped, which gave for a single handicapper a little bit of difficulty, but course was very easy to play. Early in the morning start (7:30) so course was empty. Greens were not difficult at all. Service in the restaurant was ok.

Just a little disappointing today. The recent wet weather meant that the greens had not bee cut. Hence they were wooly and very slow. Putting was difficult. However the winning score was 38 pts so it did suit some! Always nice to play Alamos as it needs good course management. Good reception at the clubhouse pro shop and very friendly.

The tournament was cancelled, however since we were there we played. Only 9 holes though as it started to rain rather heavily, which left the course soaking wet, big puddles in bunkers and puddles on the green. The buggy paths are abominabel, large pottholes which obviously are full of water after it rained. Having said that both Morgado and Alamos are one of the very few courses in the Algarve with still reasonable green fees.

Álamos Golf Course is a beautiful par 71 course, located with its sister course Morgado in its own vast area of rolling hilly countryside and fertile farmland, between Portimão and the lovely mountain town of Monchique. It is definitely one of the most enjoyable golf courses in the Algarve with several stunning views over the surrounding landscape . The course provides a very pleasant game of golf. It offers wide, hilly greens, with a variety of sometimes very open and sometimes tight fairways to test driving ability! It is surrounded by a forest filled with the local flora, orchids and even a vineyard! For naturalists there is a feast of birdlife to look out for and you may even find traces of one of the region's most famous inhabitants, the wild boar. As ever, the society had a mixture of regular visitors and new faces who all professed to having had an enjoyable game. This was reflected in the scoring which was generally good. Nearest the Pin at the very pleasant short 9th Hole was Ian Humphries (12), who also finished in 2nd place in the Men’s competition with 36 Points ahead of a number of players on 33 points. The winner though, was Tracey McCall (8) with 37 Points on the day. Best Lady was Pam Williams (26) with 31 Points. With Del’s kitchen closed as Joao has a short holiday, we returned to Chez Carlos where Felipe again provided nibbles enjoyed by all with an accompanying drink – or 2, or 3..... Alamos Golf Course : Chez Carlos Golf Society Competion 17 players tee'd off on another sunny but chilly Algarve day. Alamos golf course was in pretty good condition with the greens running true and this was reflected in the scores. Scores were as low as 24 and as high as 41 and the four players who struggled to make the 30 points mark were rewarded with an extra shot on their handicaps, these were Jeff Williams, Colette Bourke, Tony McInerney and Chris Milford. At the top end Alan Wesson had another amazing golf round shooting 3 under on the back 9 with 3 birdies and 6 pars - well done Alan who has racked up 3 wins in a row and will now be playing off 5.

It was November the last time we played Alamos so a return back was long overdue. After very changeable weather over the last few weeks it appears to have settled down to the conditions that we would normally expect of May even though a strong wind picked up on the day. It was a Sunday game this time as the FA Cup in England took precedent on the Saturday. It didn't detract from a band of ten golfers assembling to take on this picturesque and peaceful course at the foothills of the Monchique mountains. Fairways were excellent and even though the greens had been spiked in the week they ran extremely well. It has been awhile since the 'girls' took over the top spots so congratulations. It was Jet's first time at Alamos 'I loved the course and will be back'. The Society is planning to return this Summer with a trip up into the mountains for a piri -piri lunch afterwards. Watch out for the invitation!

Scheduled to play Morgado but because of the recent rains play was switched to Alamos on the advice of the golf reception – a decision that was justified by the time we finished. Whilst the course was very wet in places overall it was a drier place to be than Morgado. Total of nine players today resulted in us going out in three groups of 3. Thankfully the rain kept away with near ideal conditions to play. Special mention must go to the conditions of the greens- excellent considering the amount of rainfall they had received and very quick at times!
