Balaia sits between Vilamoura and Albufeira, in the grounds of the Balaia Golf Village resort. Opened in 2001 and designed by Southern Golf, it's a nine-hole, par-3 course, entirely about iron play and touch around the green rather than length. From the first tee, an old wooden bridge crosses between two lakes in front of the green, setting the tone for what follows.
The 2nd, 4th, 7th and 8th are the holes that ask the most of you, with the 4th the longest at 160 metres, flanked by trees that punish anything off-line. The 9th, generally reckoned the most attractive hole on the course, closes out the round. It's a short game workout more than a test of power, and a natural fit for beginners, families or a warm-up before a bigger Algarve course.
Facilities include a full driving range with a short game area and a section for professionals, several putting greens, and a clubhouse restaurant with a warm welcome. Book Balaia when you want golf without the four-hour commitment.

didn't realise its par 3, but ironically worked really well for a hot day... quicker and more fun... even though first two holes tortured me! ;-). 8/10 just note its Par3.

Early tee time and had to wait for access to club house.
Really relaxed atmosphere though.

Booked the Balaia GC using tee times, excellent service in the office located in Villmoura.
At the golf course Carlos provided us with the club rentals, golf balls and tees, first class service at the Balaia and enjoyed our 18 holes of golf. Brilliant day out and we will definitely be back playing again on this course. Highly recommend..... Thanks Brian Keenan

Receptionist and restaurant were OK. The course ( only par 3) is rather challenging. Now somewhat extra due to heavy rainfail the days before. Hole 2 is in need of some pruning at the narrow pass.
*Undulated - Hilly for a Par 3
*Exposed - Around 1 and 9
*Buggy Recommended - If Essential
*Water hazards - Couple of ditches and streams
*Parkland - Yes
*Signature Hole - 9th
*Comments - Pitch and Putt Par 3 course, good for short game
