Monte Rei Golf Course, is set in the picturesque foothills of the Eastern Algarve, with sweeping views of the Serra do Caldeirão mountains to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. A truly unique design; with water coming into play on eleven of the eighteen holes, Monte Rei golf course features an enjoyable series of eight par-4s, five par-3s and five par-5s in a challenging and distinctive layout. Monte Rei golf course presentation is highly individual, each hole a design gem blending effortlessly into this natural canvas, from its ingenious shape and sculptured bunkers, to the impressive presentation and attention to detail making every golf hole as remarkable as the next; fairways and greens are bordered by several lakes, indigenous plants, native grasses and trees adding drama to the landscape, and providing golfers with unforgettable moments to cherish in this unique and tranquil golf environment.
It;’s a beautiful layout although rather remote. The overall condition of the course wasn’t great and was not to the standard you expect of Monte Rei. Some of the margins were also untidy and the greens were considerably slower than the practice putting green. The round was very slow and not a single marshall seen.
Not worth the price by far. Landscape heavily impacted by forest fire. Fairways not good due to lack of water.
Greens perfect, but the fairways still suffering from the dry summer
Course and facility staff are wonderful! However, the course itself is in abysmal condition. Totally misrepresented in pictures and green fees are way to high for the playing conditions here. Would not recommend nor play here again
Not good value for money, as the course was in very bad condition
Monte Rei golf is a challenging course, but in these last years in very bad conditions...
Tees / greens were perfect but as expected fairways were disappointing.
The design and lay out of Monte Rei are excellent. The staff were very nice and helpful. However, the condition of parts of the course and some of the greens (rough and bumpy) were certainly below the standards expected of a Jack Nicholas designed course especially for the price you are paying for a round of golf.
An unbelievable place which truly has a special feel! The food in the restaurant was also very good! Wasn’t quite so impressed with some levels of customer service, the dress code for the vistra restaurant was confusing and the staff in one restaurant made things difficult. However, overall, a great experience and one we won’t forget.
Friendly people very hospitable. The reservation was known. The course was in good shape even for the time of year. Although I personally find it a bit boring but that could be due to the season. The red tees are not very exciting and it would be nice if ladies could tee off from the silver tee as well. This is possible, of course The clubhouse restaurant ''The Grill'' could do with a facelift. Especially at this time of year when you are inside, it is not really cosy.
The red tees are not very exciting if you want to play from silver tees instead it is possible and makes it more interesting.
fairway around greens is not good
