It took five hours and forty five minutes to play this course. This length of time is mainly due to eight minute intervals between tee times. We pay a lot of money to play this course and Quinta do Lagos persistence with eight minute tee times is not acceptable. We will not play this course again.

Pace a little slow but course ranger was trying to speed it up. Service from staff in general was good. Course in very good condition, constantly being worked on even during the round but not interfering with play at all

Course & greens were fantastic, love the course. But no buggees were available when we teed off got them on the 4th. Round took 5 hours 40 minutes. Spent 15 minutes waiting at the tee box for some holes. We saw a 6ball playing together. 2 groups ahead of us were playing music & drinking for the whole round very disappointed with the rangers for not pulling them up on there time keeping & doing there jobs. If Laranjal what big money for golf rounds then they should make the golf experience more professional.

Although the course was in good condition, the fact that it was crammed with players ruined the experience. It was like they sent out groups every 5 minutes instead of every 10

We enjoyed our time in Portugal very much.
The reservation of the TT worked without any problems and we can highly recommend this service.
The reception and the very friendly service really impressed us at Laranjal Golf Course. It is a very beautiful course that we always enjoy playing. The staff is excellent and the service is excellent.
Quinta do Lago North Golf Course - The terrain is superb and typical of the area, sandy and littered with umbrella pines trees. Nearly 5 hours to play a round of golf, waiting on most holes, behind very slow players. Course in decent condition, but lots of unrepaired pitch marks on greens. Very limited practice facilities prior to 10am, on Thursday. Buggy hire €55, very expensive for a single player.

News - Quinta do Lago South re open
2020-12-03
In regards to the closure of Quinta do Lago South Course, we would like to inform all our guests that due to the unexpected torrencial rain last week, works will be delayed on this golf course and therefore, they are forced to postpond the reopening of the Quinta do Lago South golf course.
Due to these circunstances, Quinta South will reopen now on the 9th of January 2021.
All the reservations will be moved to Quinta North and Laranjal, and you will be contacted by our reservations team to be informed of the change.

This was my second time playing Quinta South. Our group of 10 players all agreed that this was the most disappointing course of the four courses we played on this trip. There were a lot of approaches to greens with poorly patched of turf surrounding them, which made it difficult around the greens if you were slightly long or short and generally looked scruffy, especially given the green fees.
The course is a true challenge as a championship course should be. Unfortunately there was a major problem with mosquitoes, something I’ve never experienced in the Algarve before! Clubhouse, practice facilities and buggies etc are consummate with the fees charged.

Great golf course, but some major management problems. The fee should have included a golf cart, but due to overbooking there were no more carts available (or only with a delay of 45 min, not good when departure tie is at 14h00). My mother who was with me had to walk the course with a pull-trolley at age of 81 (they should at least have electrical trolleys available). One piece of advice, if the club sees that the course is fully booked they should introduce a policy that players below age 40, should walk the course, so to have sufficient carts available for the elderly players. It's a bit dismal to see young players driving a cart on a golf course, when elderly players have to walk it!!!!!! I'm 54 and still carry my bag.

The condition of the course was very disappointing with a lot of pitch marks and bare areas around the greens which were also very slow. We have played here before and it has always been very good but based on this experience it’s unlikely we would book here again, particularly when it’s one of the more expensive courses.

Golf course in great condition and a pleasure to play once again. Taxi transfers as arranged through yourselves late with morning pick up.
San Lourenco Golf is a par 72 course located in Quinta do Lago and is considered one of the best and most beautiful golf courses in Europe. The fact that this is an award-winning course is no coincidence. Bordering with the breathtaking Ria Formosa Natural Park, some of its holes are blessed with what can only be described as exquisite beauty, complemented with salt water lakes. If the first holes present no major surprise or challenges, after the 3rd, closer to the estuary, San Lourenco starts to reveal itself. After the 5th hole, a par-3 and the course's shortest, you're introduced to a dolgleg, stroke 1 sixth hole where your main challenge will be to avoid the dense shrub, so make sure you get your distances just right. As you get to the 7th, life is by no chance made easier but you still get the bonus of the outstanding views from this elevated tee before you have to focus on how to get around that green almost entirely surrounded by water. On the back nine, the 12th is the most challenging hole on San Lorenzo, featuring a deep chasm along the left of a very narrow fairway. Holes 13th to 16th also face the ocean with the latter proving to be the most demanding par-3, featuring a whole 180 m carry to a shallow green. Seventeenth is, again, extremely beautiful but still falls short of the beauty that awaits you on the last hole. It is a great finale and one that will remain in your memory as it has an excellence that is renowned worlwide. It is, without a doubt, a course for special occasions, that will provide you with unforgetably beautiful moments. Of course such a unique course had to have unique requirements concerning the booking of your green fees and that is only possible if you are a guest at the 5 star Dona Filipa Hotel nearby or by contacting a selected few like Tee Times who will make the required arrangements to book what will be one of the most special games of golf you will ever play in your life. The course and views are as good as ever. We played early and pretty much had the course to ourselves. The lack of a clubhouse did not really affect our experience, we simply drove over to the Quunt do Lago clubhouse which is only a mile or two away and had lunch there. Our only issue was the mosquitoes at that time in the morning, we both came back with at least 20 bites which did detract from our enjoyment. Top tip if playing early take plenty of repellant! They do sell it in the shop but didn't warn us pre round...

Course in better condition than for some time. However, very crowded and slow. We gave up at the end of the 17th as there were 3 groups waiting to tee off on the 18th. There is no real enforcement of letting 2 balls through or ensuring no slow play

Club house is really very, very poor for a club with this renomé, it is a very poor performance. Nowadays, there are so many possibilités to put an infrastructure in place for a short periode for very little money. We were very surprised that this club does not make a bigger effort to offer something nice. Also the path for the buggies are in a very very poor condition. What a shame for this beautiful course.

An excellently designed golf course with some great holes, and was in a good condition. There was a big problem with the condition of the buggy paths which are in need of some serious maintenance carrying out. Also, the fact there was no clubhouse due to the fire created an issue. The temporary facilities were very poor and need to be increased significantly.

4 rounds completed over 2 weeks, the staff are welcoming and helpful. Unfortunately some of the greens and parts of the fairways are in poor condition, possibly due to standing water following last years wild fires.
-**- We were the last flight today and had 3 flights of 3 in front of us, so unfortunately we had to wait at every hole and only played up to hole 16. Unfortunately we had the greenkeepers behind and in front of us the whole time, which was really unpleasant from the background noise, worse than waiting to be able to continue playing.
The guys from the cart service are super nice, the course is really beautiful. We will play there again.

It’s one of those courses that you have to play if staying in the Algarve, as the 16th is the one in all the photos! Clubhouse and the facilities are excellent but it’s always a slow round here! Buggy is recommended as there are some long walks between greens and tee boxes. We played as a group of 10 and was allowed to play as a 4,3,3 two days later on the Ocean we were paired up with 2 others to make 3 fourballs. Those who were playing the course for the first time were impressed.

The best thing I can say is the staff were lovely and very helpfull.
The course for the money they charge was in very poor condition, the bunkers should have been out of play loosing ball plugged in them, new sand probably filled that day. On the day we played the Royal there was a machine digging out a bunker at the 6th green one of our group hit his ball into that area which was scooped up by the digger never to be seen again.

If you really must play Vale Do Lobo then be prepared for the noisiest round of golf you've ever had. Standing on the 1st tee of the Royal Course is like teeing off at the Ryder Cup. 20+ other groups standing around talking/shouting, Green Staff wizzing by on mowers/machines and then every hole after that either has building work or noisy gardeners present at every adjacent villa. It was not relaxing at all. Top that off with greens that were well overdue a cut and I was extremely disappointed. If you're having a drink on the outside sofas afterwards do not look between the cushions, disgusting. Far better experiences to be had for far less money. Style over substance.

A bit disappointing, we didn’t tee off at the time we booked, behind a 4 ball who were not accomplished enough for the course, we waited on every shot and missed out on playing 2 or 3 holes before sunset. Greens were poor and generally course looked a bit shabby and having played it over the last 7 years we were disappointed

The Ocean Course is composed of two of the original 9-hole golf courses designed by Sir Henry Cotton, which were opened in 1968 and 1972. His plans for the merged course became reality in 1995, after his death.

Some tee boxes in poor condition. Current work to 10th tee was not advertised in advance. Overall though was very enjoyable.
News - Golf in Portugal - Vale do lobo Ocean course

We played yesterday at Vale do Lobo Ocean course on a hot day, but a sea breeze made it very pleasant.
We were 18 players of various nationalities, Portuguese, English, French, Swedish, Scottish and Irish, it is worth mentioning these last two nationalities.
The golf course was in perfect condition, with some greens that were fast and smooth but soft at the reception of the ball, a pleasure to play.
The course is long and has miscellaneous holes, the front nine being played in the north and west part of the resort and the back nine next to the Atlantic, which provides breath taking views and allows for some shots with the murmur of the sea in your ear. It is worth paying attention to the spectacular views on holes 11, 14 and 15. Very good.
The winner this day was Ian Godfrey with 38 points, followed by Fraser Graham with 33pt, and in 3rd 2 players with 30pt Jim Gillis and Peter Collins. Nearest the pin, on 13th, a narrow green well protected by deep bunkers was won by David Ziai, who placed the ball 3 meters from the flag.
We all return to our usual Restaurant in Vilamoura for some drinks and our free nibbles generously offered by João Filipe. Another day well spent.

My personal favourite of the two courses on this complex. Interesting holes which take in views of the ocean in places. There was some drainage work being undertaken on one of the holes, it would have been nice to have been advised of this by the starter prior to teeing off. Round times are long and there was no marshal. The practice facilities are limited in comparison to other courses. Clubhouse is shared with the Royal course but copes adequately with the volume of players.

Everyone to a man were very dissapointed with the state of the course from the paths, fairways, bunkers in a bad state and particularly the greens .Plus it took 5 hours to play the 18 holes which is not good when on a buggy.
The staff were lovely from the lady at the reception to the starter and the lads looking after the buggies.

Challenging course but reasonably well organised even if everything was a bit too pricey.

We enjoyed our time in Portugal very much.
The reservation of the TT worked without any problems and we can highly recommend this service.
Only on the also very beautiful Vale do Lobo Ocean course did we not enjoy it. This was because the ranger pushed us to play faster after we had to put up with long waits on the front nine holes. We agree that the flow of the game must be guaranteed. But a ranger should take into account the overall play and not individual flights. The enjoyment of the game and the course was over after that, which was a shame considering the high cost.

A little late to start at 2.40pm, just got in before dark, course busy and slow, but the course was in excellent condition.

The sheriff acted like an idiot, stressing us out and spoiling our fun, his remarks were out of place and made no sense...
